1990 AFC Wild Card - Chiefs vs. Dolphins
It’s still a little sad that landry was released unceremoniously after all those years. But coach johnson solidified his place in cowboys history
in the post game highlights the Raiders were losing to the Eagles 10-7 in Philadelphia and ended up losing but the Raiders won 27-10 in the Super Bowl that year vs yep the Philadelphia Eagles....REVENGE!!!!!......GO RAIDERS!!!!
They are indeed America's team... Americans loyal to America, others are either admirers or Jealous of America... That is who the Cowboys are, and how they are viewed... Perfect nickname!
Best time in pro football 🏈 no inflated salaries no inflated egos beautiful jerseys beautiful atmosphere
I watched this game as a 20 year old Marine in Okinawa. What a great taste of home watching the Vikings go on to have nearly as great a season that year as the Minnesota Twins.
I saw him break Gifford''s leg in real time. Remember it well.
Met him once. A prince of a man.
Lets all pray the Chargers lose games and fans in LA, forcing Spanos to sell and the new owner to break the lease and return to SD.
That Steeler/ Viking score was poignant, a bright reminder the 1970's were over, both teams' dominance fading, or about to fade into the past. Starting in the 1980's, it would get progressively harder for either, or eventually Dallas, Miami, the Raiders and LA to live at the top of their division like warlords. Dynasties would become harder, rarer and briefer.
It’s wild that this is 1989 and Art Shell is the first “modern” black head coach, and the ref was the first black ref in ‘88. I was nearly 10 yrs old before they started letting black dudes coach or ref.
Love watching throwback games 💯
Great player..great person...served his country.. A true hero...his name should be put up there with the all time greats..great runner..very elusive.. Captain comeback nickname says it all
I guess this was they payback revenge game for what my boys did to them down in soldier field divisional playoff game fives years before
Anyone know Kenny schroy ?
I hope EB does great at UCLA
I still live my life like this and I can tell you. This generation hates it,just like his.Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiders!
The first Super Bowl of the past 14 I had watched previously where I felt it was gonna be a total mismatch. That 86 Giants Defense was unstoppable. No way they were gonna let Elway beat them. Simms having completed 88% of his passes didn't hurt, either!
This game kicked off just after 1pm ET. A little more than two hours earlier--at 10:56am ET--in Ellsworth, Maine, someone else entered planet earth. That someone is ME, some 6 weeks earlier than the anticipated due date. Of course, I didn't get to see this game as a then two-hour old boy. In fact, being born a premature one, I had a partially collapsed lung and was hospitalized for nearly three weeks. Then, in mid-December, my family and I moved to the Bay Area as my father began a new job at the US Post Office. Thanks for this upload on the same day I was born.
Amazing game. Boy, the Rams hit Roger Staubach like a ton of bricks when Roger throws a TD to go up 19-14. There are so many great players in this game. Vin Scully is possibly the greatest play-by-play analyst while George Allen , not so much. Fun to watch this. Next I’m going to watch Rams play Bucs in the next 1979 playoff game! The modern nfl is unwatchable to me.
i recognize an animalympics song at the 36 minute part
Every tackle / hit in the film is now basically illegal. I would give Tom Brady between 5-7min in this era before tapping out.
Wow I loved charlie Jones he was one of all time greats from the Old AFL
Florida native, Dolphin’s to the end!
It was remarkable the job Levy did in KC. In 1978, they led the NFL with almost 3k yards rushing but finished 4-12. They improved to 7-9 then 8-8 and finally 9-7 in 1981. Not impressive on its face until you realize the AFC west was the toughest top to bottom division in football. Obviously the Raiders, the Dan Fouts Chargers, the Orange Crush era Broncos and even the Zorn/Largent Seahawks were tough. No easy wins, no layups for Levy at KC. The strike season of 82 changed everything. Levy was mysteriously let go at KC and in Buffalo, Chuck Knox didn’t get a contract extension so he went to Seattle. Jim Kelly decided after that to go to the USFL and not play in Buffalo. Fast forward 3 years and Bill Polian hires Levy because he remembered the great job he did in KC and it turned out to be a great choice for Buffalo after 3 horrible seasons. The USFL folded and Kelly ended up playing in Buffalo. What happens if Levy isn’t let go in KC? Or Chuck Knox gets extended in Buffalo after 1982? It’s crazy to think what might have been. Kelly might have been a Bill far earlier, maybe Knox has a long great run in Buffalo. What becomes of Levy and Polian? I think they would still have success somewhere else but it’s crazy how one thing leads to a chain of things happening.
Riggo just makes you laugh the entire interview...every interview, and Sabol is just as brilliant...what a duo
I love Riggo...such a character....always makes us smile
Da Bears 🐻
how does jim fassel feel about going 12-4 and not making the playoffs ...? (big impression coming up ...)
Thank you for sharing that. Both Ernie Accorsi & Gino Marchetti had great impacts on the NFL.
The Ghost to the Post game one of the longest playoff games ever
The Raiders in their final season of 14 regular season games
As a Cowboys fan I feared for my team's future when the Redskins hired Marty. And then it was a big sigh of relief when he left after one season. Sure the Redskins only went 8-8 in that season (although they started 0-5) and Marty had the well documented issues in the postseason, but I always felt that not only was he one of the greatest coaches I had ever seen, but once the bad luck stopped and he had success in the postseason that it would make way for continued Super Bowl victories and I badly didn't want that for the Redskins. Thank God Dan Snyder was such a horrible owner. I don't think I was ever pissed off at a player like I was at Tom Brady when he said that Marty doesn't have the right to speak about his team after Marty was asked about the Patriots in a post-game presser after blowing them out in New England. Such a great football coach and such a credit to the game.
Always liked & respected Ditka’s outlook on life & how he handled the press.
I was in college, in upstate NY. It was not on TV. I heard about it after the game, and caught the highlights during the halftime of the 4:00 games! I was elated!
Greatest NFL coach ever.
I still love the 83 thru 91 bears
0:19 Bro really took his helmet off and ran straight into the defense LOL
thats when football was really real. Real men playing there asses off.
I used to know a guy who was an undergrad at UI with Nitschke. That's about all I can say about that 😅 JK is a national treasure.
Hi Bill cowher future steelers coach
The NFL today is so much better. They need to bring back barefoot straight ahead kickers, and single bar helmets, to go with guardian helmets.
Simply the greatest Eagle of all time. There will never be another like him.
J R Thanks for all that fun! So happy you found love and happiness in live!
If Rodney Harrison was in the lineup he would stopped all of that foolishness.
Funny thing is the commercials. ALL OF THE FAILED COMPANIES. 😢
Boy if the greek were alive today he would be thrilled with all the legal gambling today
John madden at pat my childhood go giants
I wish people would get rid of all the commercials before they upload these videos. I'm not interested in a 1982 Chrysler or whatever. Must be harder to do than I thought. Lots of others do though
I've got an 82' AMC Pacer if you're interested? GMAC financing.
I still find it insane that Up With People was a real thing that played Super Bowl halftimes instead of any pop stars up until Michael Jackson in 1993.
Beast that guy
